Are there any discounts available?

Yes, we offer the following discounts for all our camps:

  • 10% discount for military families, veterans, and first responders.
  • 15% discount for siblings (sibling discount).
  • 15% discount when enrolling in more than one mini camp. The Robotics and AI: PiCar Camp runs during the same six-week window as the mini camps, so it cannot be combined with them.

Discounts do not stack. Only one discount applies per enrollment, whichever is greater.

If you qualify for any of these discounts, please get in touch with us before completing your registration.

Is the price worth it compared to other camps?

Our camps are not coding clubs or franchises. Here is what sets the value apart:

  • The instructor is a working engineer with 16+ years of industry experience — not someone following a script.
  • Students use professional-grade tools: Python, VS Code, Docker, and Raspberry Pi.
  • A 1:8 instructor-to-student ratio — far better than the typical camp ratio.
  • In Robotics and AI: PiCar Camp, your child takes their robot home at the end of the program.
  • We teach university-level concepts adapted for ages 8–14 — not watered-down activities.

What if my child misses a day?

Learning in our camps is cumulative — each day, students build on what they worked on the day before. If your child misses a day, our instructors will support them in catching up when they return. For extended absences, we recommend contacting us directly.

Can my child enroll in more than one mini camp?

Yes. The three mini camps are scheduled back-to-back, with only weekends and federal holidays between sessions, and enrolling in more than one comes with a 15% discount:

  • AI Agents: Korra Jr. Camp — Jun 8 – 18
  • Raspberry Pi: IoT & App Development Camp — Jul 6 – 17
  • Raspberry Pi: Video Streaming Server Camp — Jun 22 – Jul 2

Your child can take all three over the summer. The Robotics and AI: PiCar Camp runs during the same six-week window as the mini camps, so it cannot be combined with them.

Level & Difficulty

Is it too hard if my child has no programming experience?

Not at all. All camps are designed to work without any prior experience. We adapt university-level concepts into step-by-step, hands-on learning, guided by a real engineer.

Every one of our programs starts with the same foundation: a Python programming base that serves as the common core for all camps. From there, students dive deeper into whichever area interests them most.

What if my child falls behind or struggles?

The process is guided step by step, with 1 instructor for every 8 students. If a student needs more time with a concept, the instructor works with them directly. The goal is for every student to finish with a working project.

How do I know which camp is right for my child?

All our camps share a common foundation: every student starts with a Python programming base regardless of the program they choose. From there, the path branches based on your child's interests:

  • Interested in artificial intelligence and building their own AI agent? AI Agents: Korra Jr. Camp
  • Want to understand how platforms like Netflix or YouTube work and build their own streaming server? Raspberry Pi: Video Streaming Server Camp
  • Curious about how devices connect to each other — Internet of Things, networking, and communication across computers and devices? Raspberry Pi: IoT & App Development Camp
  • Ready to go further and build an AI-powered robot that combines programming, hardware, and robotics? Robotics and AI: PiCar Camp (robot goes home with your child)

Still not sure? Contact us directly, and we will help you find the right fit.

Safety & Supervision

Is it safe to leave my child at the camp?

Absolutely. Safety is a top priority for us:

  • All instructors undergo LiveScan background checks.
  • We maintain a 1:8 instructor-to-student ratio.
  • All AI interactions take place in a supervised learning environment with age-appropriate content controls.
  • All camps are held on the campus of Southwestern Community College, Chula Vista, CA.
  • Licensed business by the City of Chula Vista (License #103113).
  • DVBE Certified (Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise) — CA Dept. of General Services — Cert ID: 2050128.
  • SB(Micro) Certified (Small Business, Micro) CA Dept. of General Services — Cert ID: 2050128.
  • Fully insured.

CA DGS issues a single certification ID that covers both DVBE and SB(Micro) designations for a vendor.

Who is the instructor?

Our instructor is a Professor of Computer Science and Lecturer in Computer Engineering with 16+ years of real-world engineering experience. He is a U.S. Navy veteran with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) and an M.S. in Systems Engineering, and spent 16+ years at NIWC Pacific working on advanced naval systems — including network engineering for the MQ-25 Stingray unmanned aviation program and autonomous surface vessels. He currently teaches at Southwestern Community College and San Diego State University. He teaches what he has built himself.
